Since our inception, Prairie’s Edge Humane Society has stressed the importance of spaying and neutering-the nonlethal solution to pet overpopulation.

We were the first animal shelter in Minnesota to require sterilization of all animals before adoption, and we offer unique programs to help pet owners spay and neuter their own animals.

Beginning in May 2010, we are partnering with Blue Sky Veterinary Services/MnSNAP to bring their mobile spay/neuter van to our community.

Free Roaming Cat Program

If you provide food for a cat or cat population on your property, you may take advantage of this program.

MnSNAP has arranged reduced costs for the spay or neuter surgery for these cats.

Please call the shelter at 507-334-7117 to sign up for this program.

Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program

MnSNAP will also provide spay/neuter services at reduced rates for low-income families in Rice County.

You must be income-qualified to take advantage of these services.

Please call the shelter at 507-334-7117 to discuss qualifications.
