Prairie’s Edge Humane Society (formerly known as Rice County Humane Society) is a non-profit organization serving Rice County since 1985.

Our Mission: to promote the value of animals through care and education

  • We believe animals have intrinsic value and enrich human lives
  • We promote spay/neuter to reduce the number of unwanted animals
  • We offer information and programs to help people keep animals in their homes
  • We welcome all animals and provide them with care that is appropriate, practical, and kind
  • We provide pets for adoption
  • We provide humane and appropriate care, including euthanasia if warranted,  to the animals we shelter
  • We value careful stewardship of the society’s resources
